Yoga straps are not only a great tool for assisting with stretches and poses, which we'll elaborate on in our next post, but they also keep our mat neatly rolled up and make it easy to carry. Especially when we're in a rush out the door, being able to throw your mat over your shoulder whilst you sort through keys certainly makes life a lot easier.
We have two different ways we like to tie our yoga strap for our mat with which we have laid out below complete with photos of each step. If you're unsure of any step or have your own way that you love, please feel free to comment below and we'll be happy to help!
Take your yoga strap and wrap it around the mat at one end. Then feed the strap through both D rings and lay the excess out straight.
Fold the end of the strap back and feed it through the second D ring. Pull through all of the excess strap and pull tight to fasten.
With the rest of the strap, wrap it around the other end of the mat.
Using the loose end, tight a knot around the "handle" part of the strap and pull tight. If it's done correctly, you should be able to slide the knot up and down the strap to fasten and loosen. Easy peasy!
Starting the same as method 1, take your yoga strap and wrap it around the mat at one end, feed the strap through both D rings and lay the excess out straight.
Bring the excess strap to the other end of the mat. Whilst holding the strap flat on the mat, fold the strap at a 90 degree angle to wrap it around the mat as you can see in the middle photo below. Once you've made a full loop, tuck the excess strap through the 90 degree angle part of the strap and pull through.
Bring the excess strap back to the other end of the mat and feed the end through both D rings and then back through the second ring to secure it. And voila! As easy as that!
